Wollongong Workshop Theatre is theatre for the community, by the community. We rely on members of the community from across the Illawarra (and beyond) to stage our productions each year. Volunteering with us is an opportunity to develop new skills, meet new people and give back to your community. There are many different ways in which you can get involved - check them out below and discover the magic of theatre for yourself!
We hold open auditions for all productions, and performers of all experience levels are welcome! If you're keen to hit the stage, visit our Auditions page to find out about upcoming opportunities.
Each year, the Workshop Committee considers submissions from directors who are interested in putting on a show. We welcome diverse submissions from directors of all experience levels. If you have a show in mind, get in touch with us for more info about show submissions.
Stage managing, costuming, set design and construction, lighting and sound... the list of backstage roles goes on! No matter your level of experience, get in touch with us if you are interested in helping backstage.
Front of house
Our front of house volunteers welcome people to the theatre and perform a range of other tasks, including selling refreshments, checking tickets, and helping patrons to their seats. If you are a people person and would like to help in our front of house team, please contact us.
Workshop is governed by a committee of volunteer members who are responsible for the day-to-day running of the theatre and strategic decisions, such as selecting shows. Committee members are elected at the annual AGM. If you have experience and expertise in an area that would be helpful in running a theatre, we'd love to hear from you!
